Project to Improve Livelihoods in the Portmore Causeway Fishing Village

The objective of this TC is to improve the livelihoods of the fisherfolk of Portmore Causeway through the strengthening a business association that will be responsible for maintaining the fishing village and will support the fishermen and vendors in the areas of management and marketing. The specific objectives are: (i) to assist in the development of a clear strategy for the fishermen and vendors¿ association, defining the services that it will provide to its members; (ii) to improve product handling through better practices and through affordable access to needed inputs (fuel, fishing gear, ice, storage, and finance); and (iii) to explore new market opportunities for the association and develop new entrepreneurial opportunities.
