Strengthening Evaluability in the Forestry Portfolio Through Quantitative Analysis and Capacity Building

The general objective is to generate evidence that strengthens knowledge about the environmental and social effects associated with forest restoration projects, which will help improve the evaluability of this type of initiative. To achieve this, a dual approach is proposed: first, a retrospective analysis that empirically assesses the impact of past interventions on key environmental variables using data collected during project implementation; and second, a prospective approach applied to a project that is beginning implementation, in which baseline data will be collected for a future evaluation. This evaluation will analyze the environmental and social effects—particularly on the well-being of rural households—of such programs, while also strengthening monitoring and evaluation capacities.
