Training Manual and Protection Strategy for Bark Beetles in Pine Forests

The main objective is to provide the forest managers and decision-makers with reliable information for making proper management decisions for an improved protection of the pine forests of Honduras. The proposed training programme and management assesment is designed to fulfil the following objectives: a) Improve the technical knowledge regarding forests pets in Honduras, through research studies and institutional collaboration with an experienced and specialised Norwegian consulting firm; b) Improve the management of the pine forests of Honduras for the prevention and mitigation of insect damage based on the strategy document developed during the workshop in Honduras in August 2002 and by the development of a set of priorities for responsible management including forest operation activities; c) Improve on the training programs and courses for forest protection managers.
