HO-L1203 : Renovation of the Francisco Morazán Hydropower Plant to Facilitate the Integration of Renewable Energy

Project Status: Implementation

The general objective of the program is to improve and recover the role of the Francisco Morazán hydroelectric power station (CHFM by its acronym in Spanish) as an effective asset to provide flexibility and integration of variable renewable energy (ERV) to the Honduran electricity system. The specific objectives are: (i) to improve the plant's operational reliability and efficiency as an asset to increase ERV's participation in the National Interconnected System (SNI) and its integration to the System Operator (OdS); (ii) have techincal studies to evaluate the increase in its generation capacity; and (iii) strengthen the local capacity and operative units of the plant.
