GY-X1003 : Water Supply and Sanitation Infrastructure Improvement Program
Project Status: Closed
The objectives of the proposed operation are to: 1) Improve the water supply service in the areas of Cornelia Ida-De Kinderin; Diamond- Herstelling; and Cumberland-Williamsburg, by: (i) providing, for each household in the serviced area, a continuous supply of water at a minimum pressure of 5m; (ii) reducing NRW level from 50% to 35%; and (iii) meeting the WHO-based national water quality standards (namely, iron < 0.5 mg/l, colour < 15 Hazens, turbidity < 5 NTU and zero coliforms at the point of use). 2) Improve access to sanitation in the program areas, converting 1,000 pit latrines into efficient septic tank units.
