Support to the Structuring of Metroriel Project: Socio-environmental and Sustainability Management
The objective is to support the structuring of the Metroriel Project and to strengthen the capacity of the public sector to overcome critical project issues (particularly socio-environmental and sustainability aspects) and to manage a new railway public asset to provide massive transport services. The purpose is to create and assist a local counterpart technical team (Metroriel Unit) within the state-owned enterprise Ferrocarriles de Guatemala (FEGUA) to lead project preparation in socio-environmental aspects, project engineering and service and tariffs regulation. The TC will also strengthen the capacity of the Dirección de Crédito Público in assessing the financing structure of the project, as the government intends to employ a PPP modality.
