GU-M1047 : Strengthening the Waste Management System in the Lake Atitlan Watershed

This project aims to create an integrated and sustainable system for water and waste for the entire watershed of Lake Atitlan. The replicable model includes: 1) Environmental awareness campaign with materials designed to reach indigenous population in their native dialects as well as the ladino and international residents of six municipalities; 2) Creation of community-based enterprises in each municipality to manage provision of basic services and design of business model; 3) Establish a value chain for recycling and organic compost.
