Strengthening Electrical Integration and Moving Forward with the Ecuador–Peru Interconnection

Support Ecuador in strengthening the technical and institutional capacities required for the effective implementation of the operation RG-L1140 "Ecuador - Perú Power Interconnection System in 500 kV, Ecuadorian line", promoting the safe, resilient, and efficient operation of the power system while contributing to regional energy integration.
The specific objectives of this Technical Cooperation are: (i) strengthening the operational security, stability, and resilience of the regional electrical interconnection among Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru by enhancing the power system's control, coordination, and response capabilities under scenarios of high renewable energy penetration and operational contingencies; and (ii) strengthening the technical and institutional capacities of Ecuadorian power sector entities for the planning, regulation, and operation of interconnected power systems, in line with international standards and the requirements of regional energy integration.
