Closing Gaps III: The Impact of Teaching Quality on Learning Outcomes

(i) With respect to the basic activities of the study ¿Closing Gaps¿, the goal is to measure for one more year the result variables of the participants in the study (students and teachers) in order to identify the teachers¿ skills and characteristics that contribute to the decrease of the important cognitive differences between economically disadvantaged and less disadvantaged children in the first years of schooling; (ii) review and evaluate the current mentoring program for teachers in service; (iii) generating concrete proposals for the revision of the current teachers¿ selection and evaluation systems.
