Environmental Sanitation for Huambi Parish

The Project is designed to contribute directly to the MDO of poverty reduction and in response to locally determined problems and priorities. The project will be related to a broader development program implemented by CARE and a consortium of national and international organizations. Actions are organized in three components that will be developed under a strategy that promotes the exercise of rights in an equitable and sustainable manner.§ Improve the access of at least 50% of the target population to environmental sanitation services (sewage and waste water treatment system) in a sustainable manner.§ Promote positive behaviors concerning water, sanitation and environmental health and the roles of women and children in 70% of families through formal and non-formal education.§ Increase the capacity and local talent of participating organizations for managing water and sanitation systems within an integral and sustainable focus on watersheds that promotes the active participation of women. This is consistent with the focus and proposed activities in the poverty reduction program of the Japan Special Fund. (JPO)
