Strengthening the Health System to Prevent and Manage Chronic Noncommunicable Diseases: Diabetes and Cardiovascular Diseases

The general objective of the project is to improve the health of the population in the Dominican Republic through the promotion of health and the prevention and management of chronic noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), with an emphasis on diabetes and hypertension. The specific objectives are: (i) to help reduce the prevalence of risk factors for chronic NCDs by expanding the coverage of interventions to promote healthy habits and prevent risky behaviors; and (ii) to improve the care network for prompt diagnosis, treatment, and management of chronic NCDs.
