CR-M1025 : Reaching for Scale: Integrating RED Models into Public Policy

Historically, Costa Rica¿s economic growth has been concentrated mainly in the Central Valley, with fewer benefits accruing to other regions of the country. Over time, the dichotomy between the old economy of agricultural exports and the new service-based and high-tech manufacturing economy has widened the economic development gap between the Central Valley and the country¿s other regions, as shown by data on competitiveness and socioeconomic development. This project seeks to help the national government adopt that national strategy by developing RED models that provide additional tools for designing relevant policies; while also building capacity and providing technical support for the national public sector to advance on implementation of its strategy.
