CO-M1072 : Strengthening the Fish & Farm Coop of Old Providence

The general objective of the project is to consolidate the Fish & Farm Coop as a profitable business, so that it can head up the strengthening of the artisan value chain, promoting new markets and new complementary businesses, in order to position the Coop as the leader of economic and social development for its members, their families (especially wives and working-age children) and the community, in general. The specific objectives include: (i) Strengthen business areas of the Coop such as production, marketing and sales, membership and market share; (ii) Identify and help start up new complementary business, especially to be run by the members' wives and working-age children (promotion of entrepreneurship); (iii) Strengthen and expand partnerships with other business sectors such as tourism, agriculture, aquaculture and nautical sports, among others, to promote local economic development on the Islands; and (iv) Enhance the Coop's participation on decision-making boards and institutions regarding artisan fishing and other businesses that provide economic, social and environmental development, to ensure an improved business climate on the Islands.
