The objective of this Technical Cooperation (TC) project is to support the efforts of key institutions within the security and criminal justice system in managing and implementing reforms aimed at modernizing prison management, strengthening the social reintegration of adults, and improving the capacity for strategic criminal prosecution of violent crimes committed by repeat juvenile offenders. Specifically, the TC will contribute to: (i) strengthening the strategic and institutional capacity of the Chilean Prison Service; (ii) supporting the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights in the design and phased implementation of the new National Adult Social Reintegration Service; and (iii) support the Public Prosecutor's Office in implementing and learning from a pilot program for targeted prosecution focused on juvenile criminal responsibility, based on targeted deterrence strategies and coordinated with mechanisms for psychosocial and legal assessment and inter-institutional referral.
