THE MAIN OBJECTIVE IS TO RESTORE 2.800 KM OF ROADS OF THE MOST IMPORTANT STATE HIGHWAY SYSTEM IN BRAZIL. THE PROGRAM INCLUDES ACTIONS TO: IMPROVE TRAFFIC SAFETY, ESPECIALLY WHERE ROADS PASS THROUGH LOW-INCOME COMMUNITIES; REDUCE EXISTING ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS, ESPECIALLY THOSE CAUSED BY EROSION IN AREAS WITH UNSTABLE SOILS; IMPROVE INTERCITY BUS TERMINALS; AND INSTITUTIONAL STRENGTHENING FOR THE HIGHWAY AGENCY (DER-SP), TO PROVIDE BETTER SERVICES TO USERS.
