Support to Regulatory Sustainability of Basic Sanitation Services in Brazil

The objective is to support ANA in its mission to develop and monitor the national reference regulation for drinking water, sewerage, solid waste and drainage services. The IDB has structured a first Technical Cooperation (BR-T1484) that since 2021 has promoted the design and implementation of a large part of the reference regulatory standards that are included in ANA's National Regulatory Agenda. Through this CT, which expires in September 2025, important results and positive impacts have been achieved in the sanitation sector, now touching on continuing to develop the pending reference standards, but also ensuring the sustainability of what has been achieved within the framework of the Regulation of Basic Sanitation Services in Brazil. This is the purpose of the CT currently being prepared (BR-T1625).
