Energy Transition Program II - Brazil
The objective of this TC is to extend the activities and analytical studies initiated under the Energy Transition Program I (PTE-I), through the TC BR-T1432, to achieve the decarbonization of the Brazilian economy by the year 2050, through the development of the second phase of the Energy Transition Program (PTE-II). The specific objectives of this TC are to: (i) create a stakeholder forum to discuss, evaluate and propose improvements to institutional, legal, and regulatory frameworks that promotes the development and adoption of technologies and business models focused in reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and removing carbon in a cost efficient manner; (ii) update and enhance the energy transition scenarios carried out in PTE-I; (iii) evaluate the different macroeconomic impacts (investment, GDP, job and income generation) and sectoral resulting from the updating scenarios, with a focus on the development of a net-zero economy that increases the competitiveness of Brazilian industry; and (iv) development of Indicative Sectoral Roadmaps 2025-2040 to guide the Brazilian energy transition and decarbonization process by 2050.
