Valuation of Bioclimatic Services of the Amazon Forest

To estimate the value of bioclimatic services of the Amazon forest and promote the debate among policy makers and researchers in Brazil. Specific objectives: 1.Develop estimates on valuation of costs and benefits incurred due to deforestation for 5 sectors: biodiversity, health, water, agriculture and climate change. 2.Develop a model to estimate overall costs of deforestation (and account for leakage and interaction between sector impacts and economic factors of production). 3.Compile a study on the valuation of deforestation (containing both sector and overall costs). 4.Organize a workshop with experts on CO2 fertilization to discuss the effects of climate change on the Amazon forest. 5.Prepare a workshop with the participation of policy makers.
