Project Status: Closed
The objective of the proposed Technical Cooperation is to scale an innovative, inclusive and sustainable social enterprise model, the Center for Digital Inclusion, for making ICT services accessible and affordable for the Majority population in the Northeast region of Brazil. This will be accomplished through the development of an online platform which will enable CDI to better manage its growing network of 2,865 digital inclusion centers (803 CDI Community Centers and 2,062 CDI LAN Houses) through: a. Creating a better flow of information within the organization allowing for strategic decision making and streamlined management; b. Better control of CDI centers; c. Better understanding the possible correlation and trade-offs between financial sustainability and social impact; d. Cost reduction on the management of regional offices, and therefore ability to scale up faster. The broader objective of the proposed Technical Cooperation is to demonstrate the potential of market-based strategies to improve the lives of those who have been left behind.
