Amazonia Comunitaria: Democratizing access to financial resources and strengthening sustainable livelihoods and territorial governance
The general objective of the IG is to strengthen the capacity of Indigenous Peoples, afro-descendant groups, and traditional communities (IPADTCs) in the Brazilian Amazon to conserve forests and manage their territories sustainably, by expanding their access to financial resources and enhancing their institutional, technical, and governance capabilities. This will be achieved through a small-grants mechanism and a structured capacity-building program aimed at reinforcing socio-biodiversity value chains, territorial governance, and community-led initiatives that contribute to halting deforestation and improving community well-being.
