The objective of this TC is to generate experimental evidence on the causal impact of incorporating obstetric nurses into primary health care on maternal and neonatal health in Bolivia by: (i) estimating the effect of the intervention (BO-L1198) on maternal service utilization, perinatal outcomes, and maternal and neonatal mortality, leveraging the staggered random assignment across 52 municipalities; and (ii) analyzing mechanisms, heterogeneity, and cost-effectiveness to inform scaling decisions in Bolivia and the design of similar IDB operations in the region.
