BO-T1104 : Preparation of National Program in Community Based Tourism

The main objective of the TC is to support the development and plan for the implementation of a national community-based tourism strategy as a means to alleviate poverty in rural and primarily indigenous territories of Bolivia. Specific objectives are: i) support the formulation of the national community-based tourism strategy; ii) strengthen rural and indigenous communities interested to participate in the implementation of the national strategy; iii) support the preparation of the National Community Tourism Program (BO-L1039) as a loan operation for Bank financing; and iv) promote the exchange of international experience and best practice in community-based tourism to be shared with communities and the public sector. To meet all these objectives, the technical cooperation will also support a highly participatory process and the principle of development with identity that are fundamental to community-based tourism.
