Knowledge Exchange between Jamaica and The Bahamas to Strengthen National Planning Capacities

The objective of the technical cooperation is to contribute to the institutional strengthening of the national planning and development framework in The Bahamas through the exchange of experiences, knowledge, and lessons learned from the Planning Institute of Jamaica (PIOJ). In particular, the study tour is expected to provide participants with firsthand insights into Jamaica's governance structures, national development planning processes, monitoring and evaluation systems, evidence-based policymaking, stakeholder engagement approaches, and planning-budget integration mechanisms. The knowledge gained will help inform the design and establishment of the proposed National Planning and Development Institute of The Bahamas, ensuring that international best practices are appropriately adapted to the Bahamian context to support effective implementation and long-term sustainability.
