Support for Enhancing Sustainable Tourism Growth in The Bahamas

The general objective of the Technical Cooperation (TC) is to enhance the competitiveness, sustainability, and resilience of tourism in The Bahamas by conducting a comprehensive diagnostic of inbound tourism across the Northern Bahamas Islands and developing a strategic framework for sustainable tourism growth and climate resilience. The specific objectives are to: (i) Conduct a comprehensive tourism competitiveness diagnostic that evaluates visitor demand, demographic trends, expenditure patterns, niche market potential, accessibility, and climate-related vulnerabilities, with the aim of informing strategic planning processes and supporting the integration of climate resilience into tourism development initiatives and (ii) Develop and initiate the implementation of a Sustainable Tourism and Climate Resilience Strategy, informed by the diagnostic findings, that integrates product development, infrastructure enhancement, cultural asset preservation, workforce capacity building, and climate adaptation measures—ensuring the prioritization of actionable solutions to advance long-term sustainability, resilience, and competitiveness in the tourism sector.
