IDB CLIMA - Mains Replacement and Non-Revenue Water Reduction Program in Barbados
The general objective of the first loan operation is to support the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) in improving the climate-resilience of the potable water supply infrastructure, while supporting Barbados' agenda of innovation within green thematic markets. The specific objectives are to: (i) Enhance resilience and reliability in the potable water supply distribution system; (ii) Improve operational efficiency and reduce non-revenue water (NRW); (iii) Strengthen the technical capacity of the Barbados Water Authority (BWA) to design and implement water projects with climate considerations, and to monitor and report contributions to Barbados' national commitments; and (iv) Enhance water conservation and aquifer protection measures.
