Support for the Security and Justice Programmatic Agenda in Argentina

The objective of this technical cooperation (TC) is to support the design and implementation of the Bank's programmatic agenda in the security and justice sector in Argentina, through the provision of specialized technical assistance, the generation and exchange of knowledge, and the dissemination and adaptation of regional and international best practices in the country. The TC will contribute to strengthening the institutional capacities of security and justice institutions to prevent, investigate, and prosecute crimes associated with organized crime, including enhancing criminal investigation capabilities, improving institutional management in key areas of the security system, and strengthening tools for criminal prosecution and asset recovery, in support of operations AR-L1417 (Program to Strengthen Federal Security in Argentina) and AR-U0009 (Proactive Security and Justice Policies Program in Argentina (PROSEJUS)). Both operations share the common goal of strengthening the Argentine government's response to organized crime. While AR-U0009 seeks to reduce impunity by improving criminal prosecution, criminal investigation, and the recovery of illicit assets, AR-L1417 focuses on enhancing the capabilities of federal law enforcement agencies (Argentine Federal Police, Argentine Federal Penitentiary Service, Argentine National Gendarmerie, and Argentine Naval Prefecture) to investigate complex crimes, promote social reintegration, and improve territorial control.
