The Netherlands and IDB establish a water partnership program

The Netherlands and the Inter-American Development Bank signed the documents of an arrangement to establish a $10 million IDB-Netherlands Water Partnership Program.

The documents were signed at the IDB’s headquarters by the Deputy Chief of Mission of the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Washington, DC, Wim J. P. Geerts, and IDB President Enrique V. Iglesias.

Under the arrangement, the Netherlands Minister for Development Cooperation will make available a $10 million grant over a five-year period to support the water partnership program, which will consist of a trust fund for technical cooperation and a capacity building and training program.

The resources, which will be administered by the IDB, will help strengthen the Bank’s policy and sector work in integrated water resources management. This will include the design and implementation of water-related projects as well as capacity building and training activities in Latin American and Caribbean member countries.
