MIF calls for applications to the Inter-American Awards for Financial and Entrepreneurial Innovation 2017

The awards recognize the achievements of institutions that support financial inclusion in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), through its Multilateral Investment Fund (MIF), is calling for applications to the 2017 Inter-American Awards for Financial and Entrepreneurial Innovation, which are presented annually at FOROMIC, the leading event to support and finance microenterprises in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The MIF annually recognizes innovative institutions and initiatives focused on supporting the financial inclusion and development of MSMEs in Latin America and the Caribbean. This year, the focus of the awards will be financial inclusion and the use of digital technology in two categories:

Financial institutions that promote inclusion

This category will recognize financial service providers that have succeeded in using digital technologies to bring inclusive financial products and services to traditionally unaddressed or excluded segments of the population or microenterprises, while contributing to improve economic welfare and the quality of life in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Financial services for small farmers

This category will recognize innovations in the use of digital technologies to improve the quality of products and services for small agricultural, livestock, or aquaculture producers in Latin American and the Caribbean. The award seeks to identify outstanding initiatives from a wide range of suppliers in the agricultural ecosystem to promote financial inclusion and strengthen the productivity and resilience of small producers.

Please visit us for more information on eligibility and application criteria. The closing of the applications is August 31, 2017. The awards ceremony will be held at the XX edition of FOROMIC, to be held from October 31 to November 1 in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
