The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and Pórtico Bookstore will host a lecture by critically acclaimed author Dr. Birute Regine on Wednesday, February 16 at 5:30 p.m. at the IDB’s headquarters in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Regine will discuss her book Iron Butterflies: Women Transforming Themselves and the World, in which she profiled 60 female trailblazers from around the globe. The lecture will focus on a profound leadership transition currently taking place – a process increasingly led by women, largely under the radar – and how empathy, emotion, strength and acceptance of vulnerability are changing traditional management models.
Special guests include Judge Maria Lopez, the first Latina appointed to the bench in Massachusetts and former star of the syndicated television show Judge Maria Lopez, and Deborah Rosado Shaw, renowned entrepreneur, advisor to Fortune 500 CEOs and winner of the “Hispanic Businesswoman of the Year” award from the National Hispanic Business Group. IDB Executive Vice President Julie T. Katzman will inaugurate this new series.
The event is open to the public and registration is free.
