Juan Luis Guerra to promote Yo Amo América Campaign at IDB Headquarters

Renowned international artist Juan Luis Guerra and Inter-American Development Bank President Luis Alberto Moreno will launch the media campaign for the Yo Amo América initiative on Wednesday, June 24, at IDB headquarters in Washington, D.C.

Yo Amo América is an advocacy and social marketing initiative led by artists as agents of change in strategic areas, aimed at reducing poverty and spurring development in Latin America. As spokespersons, celebrities Ricky Martin, Juanes and Juan Luis Guerra will work to raise awareness of, respectively, the need to establish policies and make investments in birth registration, early childhood development and access to financial services.

National campaigns and other activities will be carried out in several countries in the region to raise awareness and promote information and services among low-income groups. 

As a spokesperson for microfinance, Juan Luis Guerra will emphasize the importance of providing financial services to the poor. He and President Moreno will discuss how microcredit and other basic financial tools can help improve poor households' income and living standards.
