IDB will host the opening of award-winning Uruguayan Film “Gigante”

The Inter-American Development Bank’s Cultural, Solidarity and Creative Affairs Division is pleased to host a showing of the award-winning film “Gigante,” presented by the Embassy of Uruguay and the Ibero-American Cultural Attachés Association’s DC Latin American Film Showcase.

The film, directed by Adrián Biniez, deals with a shy supermarket security guard, Jara (Horacio Camandule), who becomes transfixed by Julia (Leonor Svarcas), a cleaning woman he spots through a surveillance camera. Soon, his life turns into a series of rituals and routines as he becomes obsessed with watching her. In this drama about isolation and loneliness, Jara designs his life around Julia's schedule, following her to the movies, the beach -- even on dates with another man. Will he ever drum up the courage to approach her?
