The Inter-American Development Bank will host a one-day seminar on "The Future of Soccer Business in the Americas," examining the sport as an investment alternative that promotes economic and social development in the region.
The sessions will be inaugurated at 9.30 a.m. on May 5 by IDB President Enrique V. Iglesias, with the presence of former Sports Minister of Brazil Edson Arantes do Nascimento, Pelé; former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger and Brazilian Ambassador to the United States, Rubens Barbosa.
Don Garber, President of the Soccer Major League of the United States; Jack Warner, President of the North and Central America and the Caribbean Football Confederation (CONCACAF); and Nicolas Leoz, President of the South American Football Confederation (CONMEBOL), will be guest speakers among other personalities from international groups.
The conference will focus on promoting business relationships among international investors, national and international soccer federations, clubs and teams of the Americas and sport marketing and communication companies.
The seminar will take place at the Andres Bello Auditorium at IDB headquarters in Washington, D.C., 1300 New York Ave. There will be a news photo opportunity at 9.30 a.m., and a 20-minute video news release will be available to TV stations by satellite.
