IDB to present report October 26 on sovereign debt

The Inter-American Development Bank on Thursday, October 26, will present a report on sovereign debt in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The report, titled Living with Debt: How to Limit the Risks of Sovereign Finance, is the 2007 issue of the annual Economic and Social Progress Report.

A panel of international experts and researchers will offer opinions and ideas on the conclusions and content of the report in a two-hour forum that begins at 3:30 p.m. with introductory remarks by IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno.

The event will take place in the Enrique V. Iglesias Conference Center at 1330 New York Ave. N.W., Washington, D.C.

In addition to IDB researchers Eduardo Borensztein and Ugo Panizza, the panel includes Barry Eichengreen, Professor of Economics, University of California at Berkeley and Guillermo Mondino, Head of Latin America Research, Lehman Brothers. The panel will be moderated by Paul Blustein, Journalist in Residence, Brookings Institution.
