IDB organizes seminar on labor markets and employment policies July 18-19 in Lima, Peru

The Inter-American Development Bank will be the host of a seminar in Lima, Peru, on July 18-19 on developing labor markets in the Andean Region of South America.

The seminar, titled “Developing Consensus on the Labor Market and Employment Policies in the Andean Area,” is being organized by the IDB in conjunction with the Grupo de Análisis para el Desarrollo (GRADE) with the support of the Tinker Foundation.

Among the participants will be senior officials from labor ministries, employer organizations, and labor unions - as well as representatives of academia and civil society - from Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador Peru and Venezuela.

The participants will analyze the Latin American experience in the development of labor markets and will identify opportunities in the Andean Region. The discussion will contribute to identifying priority areas and the differences and points of consensus of the sectors involved in the labor market, and it will support the design of adequate policies and programs.

The first session of the seminar will take place in the Miraflores Park Plaza Hotel on July 18. It will be followed by a closed technical session at the Hotel Country Club on July 19.
