IDB launches interactive map of suppliers to respond to the COVID-19 emergency

The Inter-American Development Bank, through the ConnectAmericas business platform, launched today an interactive map that allows users to quickly locate and find suppliers of goods and services in Latin America and the Caribbean, and the rest of the world, to face the pandemic of COVID-19.

The map georeferences more than 1,300 companies in the ConnectAmericas network that offer products such as masks, ventilators, medications, hospital materials, hygiene products, among others, as well as hospital management solutions, telemedicine and virtual assistance, digital management platforms and data analysis.

The tool also features a form so that any firm or company interested in offering its goods or services can register to help face and mitigate the emergency. In this way, the IDB seeks to bring together in one place and make available the solutions available in the region to deal with the emergency.

This initiative impacts two of the four areas that the IDB has prioritized as a response to the crisis caused by the new coronavirus. One, the immediate public health response, by supporting the governments' preparedness and health response capacity. And two, economic productivity and employment, through the articulation of relevant suppliers of goods and services, including small and medium-sized companies, with public and private buyers.

With the creation and publication of this platform, the IDB seeks to promote expansion, transparency and accessibility in an environment of free exchange between suppliers and buyers and does not seek to support specific firms.
