IDB Lab Launches Call to Empower Jamaican Entrepreneurs

KINGSTON — IDB Lab, the innovation and venture capital arm of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), is inviting Jamaican companies to participate in its Caribbean Open Call for Loan Proposals. This opportunity offers between US$500,000 and US$2 million in debt financing for innovative, impact-driven, businesses that address key social, economic, and environmental challenges. 

As part of IDB Lab’s ongoing efforts to build innovative ecosystems in Jamaica and provide financing for impactful ventures, this initiative seeks to empower entrepreneurs and businesses to enhance financial inclusion, develop solutions for climate resilience, and generate measurable benefits for communities and economies across the Caribbean. 

IDB Lab recognizes the critical need for flexible debt financing options to support high-impact, innovative firms that require funding to scale their operations. While venture capital plays a crucial role in fostering early-stage innovation, there is a growing demand for debt financing to support businesses that are not tech-based but have significant potential for growth and impact.

By increasing access to debt financing, IDB Lab aims to empower businesses to drive social and economic transformation in the Caribbean. This initiative aligns with its broader goal of ensuring that capital flows to ventures that generate measurable benefits for communities and economies.
