IDB is host to Third Annual Meeting of Secretaries of Multilateral Development Banks

The Inter-American Development Bank hosted the Third Annual Meeting of Secretaries of Multilateral Development Banks at its Headquarters in Washington, D.C., on Oct. 28-29.

The meeting was part of a series designed as an ongoing effort to coordinate these institutions’ work, through their respective Secretariats, towards alleviating poverty and generating development around the world. Among the major institutions represented by the Secretaries, apart from the IDB, were the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund and the Asian, African, Islamic and European development banks.

The Secretaries shared their views on issues that affect the performance of development organizations. Among other topics, they discussed the enhancement of independent investigation mechanisms, recent progress in institutional information systems, developments in public information policies and their experiences in dealing with the new security challenges.

These institutions recognize that coordinated work and increased communication among their staff can help them achieve a better understanding of the problems they face and better service to clients’ needs.
