IDB holds seminar on integration and financial safety nets

The Inter-American Development Bank held a seminar at its Washington, D.C. headquarters this week on integration and financial safety nets in Latin American and the Caribbean, which brought together delegates from central banks, banking regulatory agencies and deposit insurance institutions, academic researchers and international experts.

The event was organized by the Institute for the Integration of Latin America and the Caribbean (INTAL) and the Special Initiative on Trade and Integration of the IDB’s Integration and Regional Programs Department.

Among the speakers were former IMF managing director Jacques de Larosière, former Chilean Central Bank president Carlos Massad, former Colombian finance minister Roberto Junguito, Michel Aglietta of the University of Paris and José Luis Machinea, a senior expert with the IDB’s Special Initiative on Trade and Integration.
