BELÉM, Brazil – The Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group) launched “Amazon for All” to expand access to investments in the Amazon region and attract resources for its sustainable and inclusive development.
Part of the Bank’s Amazonia Forever program, Amazon for All is a set of investment products developed by financial institutions and aimed at large, private investors as well as the general public. The resources will be directed to projects that promote local livelihoods, strengthen economic resilience, and foster sustainable forest management.
“Amazon for All takes an important step toward democratizing sustainable investments in the Amazon, allowing anyone to invest directly in sustainable projects. In partnership with the Brazilian government, we are driving initiatives that mobilize the private sector, promote inclusion, and amplify positive impact on the forest and local communities,” said IDB Group President Ilan Goldfajn during the launch event at COP30.
Banco do Brasil (BB), Caixa Econômica Federal (CAIXA), and the Brazilian Development Bank, BNDES, will be the first to develop products under the Amazon for All brand. Solutions under development can include an exchange-traded fund (Amazon for All ETF) and an investment fund on credit rights (Amazon for All FIDC, its acronym in Portuguese), which will invest resources in sustainable projects in the Amazon region.
With just R$100 ($18), anyone will be able to invest in the Amazon through these funds, democratizing access to sustainable investments in the region and raising public awareness about the importance of supporting sustainable initiatives.
The trademark will be granted to financial products whose assets meet high sustainability standards, focusing on measurable impact and transparency – for example, following the Amazonia Bond Issuance Guidelines developed by the IDB and the World Bank.
IDB Invest, the IDB Group’s private-sector arm, supports this project and may participate as an anchor investor in its investment funds, strengthening the capital market and expanding the reach of sustainable investments in the region.
Amazon for All reinforces the IDB Group’s efforts under its Amazonia Forever umbrella program.
