IDB Group Launches 6th Edition of Superheroes of Development Contest to Recognize Clients
  • Executing agencies can submit proposals between May 24 and June 30, 2023.

The Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group) launched the sixth edition of the Superheroes of Development contest to reward its clients and executing institutions that stand out for successfully addressing challenges during the implementation of development projects.

Superheroes of Development recognizes projects that use systematic learning, exchanges, and past lessons to adapt to shifting environments and generate timely and actionable knowledge for other implementing partners and institutions.

Learning from the results of project execution allows institutions to anticipate challenges that others have already faced, rely on solutions that others have implemented, and avoid mistakes that others have made.

The IDB Group is made up of the IDB, IDB Invest, and IDB Lab, which generate impact in the region through governments, the private sector, and innovative entrepreneurs, respectively.

"In the IDB Group, we value both the results of our work and the path taken to achieve them. There are many development superheroes in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our task is to seek them out and recognize them so that they can inspire us and we can continue learning from their stories," said Lorena Rodríguez Bu, chief of the Knowledge and Learning Division at the IDB. "By systematizing and sharing these experiences, we seek to support the IDB Group's efforts to achieve greater effectiveness in our development projects."

The contest recognizes our partners and clients in two categories:

Category 1: IDB projects in the implementation process that have received at least the initial disbursement, or IDB Invest or IDB Lab clients that have received financing.

Category 2: Projects that concluded on and/or after January 2016.

Contestants can complete the online form on the Superheroes of Development website, which also includes the rules of the contest. The IDB Group will share the winning stories across the region. The four finalist projects will be invited to participate in an award ceremony to be held during the IDB Group Knowledge Week in October 2023. For more information, visit the website here.
