WASHINGTON — The Inter-American Development Bank Group (IDB Group) will hold the 2026 Annual Meetings of its Boards of Governors in Asunción, Paraguay, on March 11-14.
IDB Group President Ilan Goldfajn and Minister of Finance of Paraguay Carlos Fernández Valdovinos signed a memorandum of understanding today to confirm the plans following a discussion at IDB headquarters about private-sector-led development.
Economic and financial leaders from the IDB Group’s 48 member countries and representatives of the private sector and civil society will gather at the Annual Meetings to address key development challenges and opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean. At the top of the agenda is how to accelerate growth and development that is led by the private sector, including how the IDB and IDB Invest can expand their impact and scale through innovative initiatives.
The IDB Group, the leading source of financing and knowledge for development in the region, comprises the IDB, which works with the region’s public sector and enables the private sector; IDB Invest, which directly supports private companies and projects; and IDB Lab, which spurs entrepreneurial innovation.
The event will mark the 66th Annual Meeting of the IDB’s Board of Governors and the 40th Annual Meeting of IDB Invest’s Board. These are the highest decision-making bodies of the institutions, comprising finance ministers, economy ministers, and other senior officials.
The Annual Meetings will also feature a business investment forum to foster discussions and exchanges between business leaders, investors, and government officials from across the region and around the world who are seeking opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Other highlights include a meeting with civil-society representatives from member countries and thematic seminars on topics including regional integration, supporting vulnerable communities, and unlocking the value of critical minerals.
