IDB celebrates Mayors Forum on sustainable and inclusive recovery in cities

The IDB Cities Network will virtually hold a Mayors Forum: The Path Towards an Inclusive and Sustainable Recovery in Cities on March 15-16, 2021, as a preamble to the Annual Meeting of Governors of the IDB and IDB Invest. The objective of the meeting is to support the exchange of experiences and good practices among the mayors of Latin America and the Caribbean, focusing on the key role of cities in the recovery after the COVID-19 pandemic.

Specifically, the meeting will offer a unique opportunity for mayors of the region to explore relevant issues for their cities, such as productivity and economic growth, job opportunities for women, green recovery, as well as support for innovation and reactivation of the creative and cultural industries.

In Latin America and the Caribbean, activities carried out in cities represent between 60% and 70% of regional GDP. Cities are a critical engine for the region's recovery.
