IDB approves US$10 million to support regional road plan in Colombia

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) today approved a US$10 million loan to assist the Colombian Ministry of Transportation in the execution of it regional road plan.

The program will help the ministry develop the technical and institutional tools necessary to provide efficient, ongoing support to the country’s departments for their road and transportation management.

The main objectives of the operation are to strengthen the management capacity of the ministry; update the regulatory and technical framework for managing and investing in secondary road networks; update or develop departmental road plans and related institutional strengthening plans; and improve departmental road management systems.

This IDB loan will enable the Ministry of Transportation to develop technical standards, manuals, and specifications for road construction, rehabilitation, improvement and maintenance suited to the nature and volume of demand and the economic conditions of the different departments.

The loan will be executed by the Colombian Ministry of Transportation.
