In the morning, the IDB has organized a seminar that will talk about investment opportunities in Latin America and the Caribbean and another one that will discuss the challenge of financing large infrastructure projects in the region. Several IDB officials and business leaders will take part in these seminars.
At lunch time, IDB President Luis Alberto Moreno will unveil the Bank’s new Emerging and Sustainable Cities Platformduring a forum where mayors from Canada, the United States and Latin America will share their development experiences.
In the afternoon, two other seminars organized by the Bank will discuss the role of the private sector in developing sustainable use of natural resources and the future of oil in a carbon conscious world.

World energy consumption could increase 30% by 2030. Despite efforts to diversify the energy matrix, fossil fuels will remain the world’s dominant form of energy, responsible for 80% of the total supply. This seminar will discuss challenges and strategies to minimize the impact of the oil industry on climate change.
