IDB Annual Meeting Agenda Highlights – March 24

The first day of events related to the Annual Meeting of the Board of Governors of the IDB and IIC starts with a conference about youth and development at the University of Calgary in the morning and, in the afternoon, a seminar at the Calgary Convention center will discuss innovative business models in Haiti.

9:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Seminar: Youth for Development– Development for Youth Conference

This seminar will discuss the impact of youth development in promoting sustainable and equitable economic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean. The conference will focus on key issues that affect young people such as employment, entrepreneurship, social programs, climate change, road safety, and sports for development.

The event will close with a concert by emerging pop/rock artists, Marre from Colombia, who serves as a spokesperson for road safety for the IDB, and Gustavo Galindo, a Latin pop/rock singer-songwriter of Mexican heritage.

Seminar: Innovative business models in Haiti: Linking profit, sustainability and social investment

Senior executives from Canadian, European and U.S. companies will present innovative business projects to promote private sector investment and social development in Haiti, at a roundtable discussion organized by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Canadian Foundation for the Americas (FOCAL).

4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Bruce Graham from Calgary Economic Development and George Brookman from Calgary Tourism will brief the press about the City of Calgary's economic activities.
