The Diversity Group of the Inter-American Development Bank is hosting its Fourth Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Awards Ceremony on Monday, March 21, 2005 from 12:00 noon to 1:15pm in the IDB Conference Center. The keynote speaker will be Dr. Ivete Sacramento, President of Bahia State University in Salvador, Brazil, who will discuss her ground-breaking work in affirmative action.
The MLK Awards Ceremony honors IDB staff members who have made contributions to social inclusion and diversity both within the Bank and in Latin America and the Caribbean, the region it serves. The event will also feature Brazilian music performed by Arcindo B. Santos.
The IDB Diversity Group is a group of volunteers who promote an environment in the Bank where all aspects of diversity are celebrated and accepted and heightened. In addition to its annual awards ceremony, it also sponsors lectures and cultural events to promote the sharing of knowledge, increase appreciation of our cultural heritage and to celebrate the contributions of ethnic minorities in the region.
The MLK Awards Ceremony will be held in the IDB Conference Center, located at 1330 New York Ave, NW, in Washington, DC. The metro stop is Metro Center, 13 th Street exit, and there is public garage parking or street parking available in the area. Admission is free, but government-issued photo identification is required for entry, along with this press release.
