Citizen Security Week will address the future of citizen security and justice

The Inter-American Development Bank and countries in Latin America and the Caribbean will discuss what digital innovations can contribute to the fight against crime and citizen security

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) will hold the Eleventh Citizen Security Week, at the Headquarters of the IDB in Washington, DC from September 9-13, 2019. This event is the largest regional meeting for dialogue and exchange of experiences in matters dedicated to security and  justice issues in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).

In this edition, the central theme will the future of citizen security and justice institutions in LAC and what innovations are we offering to the region.

The event consists of two main activities, the first is the Regional Policy Dialogue, where Security and Interior Ministers from across the region to discuss the challenges and advances in citizen security and justice policies. This activity will take place on September 9 and 10 and its opening will be inaugurated by the President of the IDB, Luis Alberto Moreno.

During the Regional Dialogue we will have ministers and senior officials of the Ministries of the Interior and Security of Argentina, Bahamas, Belize, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Suriname and Uruguay will participate.

The second main activity is the Citizen Security Clinic, which will begin on September 11 and is open to all public and the media. The meeting will feature more than 40 regional and international panelists, who will present promising experiences from more than 15 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, North America and Europe on what innovations are contributing with the fight against crime and citizen security at the national and local levels.
