Citizen Security Week in Chile will address the use of technology against crime

The IDB, the Government of Chile and countries of the region will discuss in Santiago, Chile, digital innovations and their application in the value chain in citizen security and justice

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the Ministry of the Interior and Public Security of Chile will hold the Tenth Citizen Security Week, in Chile from November 26 to 30, 2018. It is the largest regional event dedicated to security and criminal justice issues in Latin America and the Caribbean.

In this edition, the central theme will be digital innovations and their application in the value chain in citizen security and justice.

The event consists of two main activities, the first is the Regional Policy Dialogue, where Security / Interior Ministers from across the region discuss the challenges and advances in citizen security and justice policies. This activity will take place on November 26 and 27 and its opening will be inaugurated by the President of the Republic of Chile, Sebastián Piñera.

The Minister of the Interior of Chile, Andrés Chadwick, will host the Regional Dialogue, in which ministers and senior officials of the Ministries of the Interior / Security of Argentina, Bahamas, Belize, Costa Rica, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic, Suriname and Uruguay will participate..

The second main activity is the Citizen Security Clinic, which will begin on November 28 and is open to all public. The meeting will feature more than 40 regional and international panelists, who will present promising experiences from more than 15 countries in Latin America, the Caribbean, North America and Europe on how to use technology against crime and generate technological innovations at the national and local levels.
