Barranquilla, Colombia to host Foromic 2018

The Colombian city of Barranquilla will host the leading event on financial inclusion and business development trends in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The IDB Group, through its innovation lab MIF, will hold the 21st edition of Foromic, the most important annual event on financial inclusion and business development in the Latin American and Caribbean region. This year, Foromic is organized jointly with the Government of Colombia and the Mayor's Office of Barranquilla and will be held from October 29 to 31 in the Puerta de Oro Convention Center.

Based on the concept "Reinventing Inclusion", financial institutions, decision makers, companies, creatives and innovators will analyze how innovation, driven by emerging technologies and disruptive business models, is transforming inclusion in financial services, entrepreneurship, and the future of work. The agenda can be found here.

Within the program, there will also be special sessions that will offer participants a unique opportunity to participate on focused demonstrations and discussions. These sessions will allow to address different issues, including the application of exponential technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Internet of Things and Blockchain. The 21st edition of Foromic is unlike any of the previous editions; this year in Colombia, the event's agenda includes an extra day of programming to facilitate three full days of panels and lectures.

Foromic will also offer new opportunities to network, experience innovation, and establish business contacts in collaboration spaces. Among these featured spaces is the ‘Meeting Point’ where participants can organize meetings before or during the event to exchange knowledge and create new alliances with other participants. In Barranquilla, the 'Meeting Point’ will be enriched with a new app for smartphones  that will allow attendees to get to know and add each other as contacts.

Last year, Foromic 2017 in Argentina drew more than 1,400 attendees from more than 30 countries. More than 1,000 meetings were held at and the program included over 60 world-class panelists.
