Throughout history, water has played a central role in human culture. It is intricately woven into celebrations, rituals and spiritual practices. Yet, in many parts of the world, access to clean water is becoming increasingly challenging.

As sector integration increases, more win-win scenarios will emerge to optimize infrastructure development and we should take those opportunities.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is becoming increasingly present in the solid waste sector. It enables service providers to manage more efficiently by – for example - designing "smart” collection routes in which the exact amount of waste to be collected at each point is known, or designing the optimal collection route for a particular day based on truck capacity.
